Community guidelines
Akhdar works because members trust each other. These guidelines keep the marketplace honest, safe and halal.
Our principles
- Be truthful. Describe what you offer accurately, use your own photos, and disclose defects. The Prophet ﷺ said the honest and trustworthy merchant will be with the prophets, the truthful and the martyrs (Tirmidhi).
- Keep it halal. Only list lawful goods, services, jobs and opportunities. Offers involving riba, gambling or haram products are removed.
- Respect everyone. Communicate with adab. Sisters-only and brothers-only listings exist to support modesty; honor them.
- Honor agreements. If you agree on a price or time, keep your word. If plans change, message the other person promptly.
- One item, one listing. Post each item or service once in the most relevant category. Do not spam or repost the same listing.
Not allowed on Akhdar
- Alcohol, intoxicants, drugs and drug paraphernalia
- Pork and pork products, and non-halal meat advertised as halal
- Gambling, lotteries, betting and casino services
- Interest-based (riba) loans, payday loans and guaranteed-return investment schemes
- Adult content, dating, escort or matchmaking services
- Weapons, ammunition and anything illegal to sell where you live
- Stolen, counterfeit or recalled goods
- Magic, fortune telling, amulets (ta'weez) sold as protection, and other shirk-related services
- Personal donation requests, pyramid schemes and multi-level marketing recruitment
- Hate speech, harassment or content that mocks any faith or people
Sisters-only and brothers-only listings
Members can limit a listing to sisters or brothers, for example roommates, tutoring, fitness, beauty services or selling clothing. Please respect the audience the poster chose. Listings may not otherwise discriminate against people based on ethnicity, nationality, madhhab or disability.
Jobs, gigs and business opportunities
Pay must be lawful and clearly described. Never charge applicants to apply, to train or to buy a starter kit. Business and investment listings should be structured on halal terms (profit and loss sharing, no guaranteed returns, no riba) and must not recruit for pyramid or multi-level marketing schemes.
How moderation works
Listings that mention possibly prohibited items are held for a quick human review before they appear. Anyone can report a listing; when 3 different members report the same listing it is hidden until a moderator reviews it. Moderators may remove listings and suspend members who break these guidelines, and members are emailed the reason.
